Sarah (my partner) and I are to meet Alex Tew, the innovative 21-year old who created the million dollar homepage tonight, at a party being held by our spokesman Simon Woodroffe. This will be a great opportunity to learn from his experiences creating and marketing a website that gained massive global interest.
Alex's experiences have been well reported - essentially he came up with a great idea one evening (to sell off a million pixels on a web page for a dollar each) and simply ran with it. The uniqueness of the idea grabbed global attention and over the course of around five months he sold every one of the pixels.
The demand was so great that the last few pixels were auctioned off on eBay for far more than a dollar each!
This innovative idea is an example of creative thinking at its best, not only because it is extremely clever (which it is) but also because it is essentially so simple. It's a concept everyone can understand and relate too, and which (undoubtably) millions of people must have thought "Why hasn't someone done this before?".
Its brilliant to know that Alex has many other innovative ideas in the pipeline - people like him may truly shape the Internet in the future.
Sarah and I are looking forward to talking to him tonight and discussing the plans for TheNeverEndingStory. It will also be great to meet up with Simon again.
It may be Valentines Day but the countdown to the launch of our site continues. And the journey is becoming more and more interesting day by day!
Will update you tomorrow.
